A Perplexing Journey

I blog about; life with my loving husband, & our cats Siggy, and Maddie. Stuff in the news, my crafts, memes, photo posts & various other things that catch my fancy. I really like working at home, my husband appreciates my roll as housewife, and I find it my most rewarding job yet. We still hope to have children, though we still don't have any yet.

Poo-pooing global warming!

First of all, we found this video to be very interesting. While it cuts off at the end it is super supportive and informative.

People really need to think, learn and judge for themselves. An ex-vice-president confused about "inventing the internet" and with a sore-loser complex is not the first person I would go to for advice about weather, science, and the life expectancy of this earth.

Back in school I remember that the big concern was that we were headed to a new ice age, and we'd all be frozen to non-existence. That obviously didn't continue, so I guess groups and politicians had to drum up a new concern to control the masses (for their own good, of course).

A much more logical theory is that - much like years have seasons - centuries also have seasons, and we're simply in a warmer phase right now. (Though that still doesn't explain how we had nearly 2 feet of snow this winter, plus an extra snow in mid-April...)

Here's a book that looks to support this theory (I can't say for certain because I haven't picked it up yet)...

Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1,500 Years
by Dennis T. Avery And S. Fred Singer

As I heard one weatherman report, there is some science to warming and freezing, but the dire warnings the politicians want us to heed are at best over-dramatic. There is plenty of "analysis", but they are basing it on only about 50 years of continuous weather tracking. (Yes, people have recorded temperatures for much longer, but the ability to automatically and continuously record data is much newer. God bless technology! ;-)

Also, when the fear-mongers say "a large number of scientists say that global warming is a real and imminent threat", they are usually referring to members of a single UN committee. The global warming camp would like you to believe that this committee is diverse and academic, but they are not. Yes, some (but not all) are scientists, but they are often just representatives of the interests of their respective countries. Ever notice how the Kyoto Protocol doesn't require third world countries to comply with environmental restrictions? Do you believe other countries are unaware of how they will profit if the US businesses are heavily restricted (and they are not)?

The fact is, the majority of real scientists - that is, those actively performing research in legitimate facilities such as universities and businesses - discredit "the sky is falling" attitude. It is well known that most climate, ozone, and soil pH changes are due to natural processes of the earth. Each year, for example, volcanos deplete far more of the ozone layer than humans ever have, even in the years before ozone-depleting propellants were banned.

In closing, yes, it's hot right now, but hey, it's summer. Temperatures are never identical each year, so while it may warm for a few more years, it may not be long before another cooling trend, either. And yet somehow before all this "data", the human race has managed to survive for thousands of years...
