This breaks my heart!
I understand that in a day and age where everyone is still raw about the whole Michael Vick issue that anyone who endangers animals is probably going to get it, as this cop probably will. So why is it that a mother who left her daughter in her car on several occasions, only to let her die the last time gets off scott free!? What is this world coming to when a child's life is less then a dogs life. Granted this is all in different states, but if a person can't be a mother enough to protect her child from cooking to death then there should be consequences for her! I know I'm not a mother myself. But that news made me cry. I could never imagine leaving a child in a car, regardless of the temperature outside or to make a habit of that. My heart breaks because I feel had I been able to be a mother I could protect that child so much better. All I can do is shake my head and know that someday when I am a mother I will do things different.
I know very well that if a child is sleeping in the car it's hard to want to pull them out because they're heavy and could get cranky when they wake up, but I think dealing with that is so much better then having to bury a child!

It makes me so mad sometimes when I see who is able to have children and they never even seem to realize what they have. I see a lot of abused and or neglected children in this area, and have worked in classes that have been composed of such children, I just hope they can find a better way than there parents.
I know what you mean. I see things all the time and I tend to get pretty depressed if I were to focus on it too much.
Someday God will lead my DLH and I to adopt and when that day comes I know we'll be able to do something more for a least that child.
I used to work in the mall and I think that's where I saw the most ignored kids. The younger kids were with their parents, but you could see their distress about being at the mall and putting up with mommy getting multiple bags under her greedy little arms, and when the kid wanted one little thing all hell would break loose!
And then I saw plenty kids who weren't with their parents. Those were the ones I had to watch because of stealing. It amazed me how young some of those kids were.
I honestly believe that ignoring children is in many ways just as bad as abusing them, and in this case of the child left in the vehicle it certainly is true.
