A Perplexing Journey

I blog about; life with my loving husband, & our cats Siggy, and Maddie. Stuff in the news, my crafts, memes, photo posts & various other things that catch my fancy. I really like working at home, my husband appreciates my roll as housewife, and I find it my most rewarding job yet. We still hope to have children, though we still don't have any yet.

Dem darn 'COONS!

So a few weeks ago Kevin and I were befuddled as to why our garden hose that we've only had for a couple years seems to have wholes in every possible spot!

This morning I woke up early. Was thirsty so I got up to go to the kitchen, freak out because the back porch light came on (we have motion sensor lights) so I snuck a peek out to see two very large raccoons playing with our garden hose as if it was a cat toy and they were cats. They had it all wrapped between them and were scratching it with all four paws, and gnawing on it with their mouths. If there was any plans of letting my cats out they are no longer, I'm not letting them out with coons like this around. There was already a warning posted at the library about some possibly carrying rabies so the cats who are indoor always, will remain strictly indoor only.

I guess I should get a lawn sentry like this...

Now we need a new hose. Anyone got any advice for one they can't or wont destroy again? I'm thinking of one of those self coiling ones, or a flat one that will roll well onto a garden hose wheel.

... And here I thought the freezes we've had were to blame. BAD RACCOONS!

Oh, and this isn't their first offense. They have also dug all the plants around the pond, and I've seen them climb into the pond and bath! Fortunately my pond is only about 10 gallons so it's not like I keep fish in it. With these bad boys as neighbors I don't think I could keep fish even if I made my pond bigger.

I wish you would have grabbed the camera. Would have loved to see them wrestling with the hose! I love the video below and am going to copy it to my celiac blog. People are always saying to me "you look so good" and it just crushes me because I FEEL so lousy.

I thought about that, but the camera doesn't have flash, and I thought if I tried to shine a light I'd probably loose the shot.
If I seem them at it again I'll try then.

I'm glad you like the video. The site is worth poking around. And I do know what you mean about "compliments" crushing.
